Message from the Alumni Director

The Alumni Association recently held elections for its officers.  We are pleased to announce the incoming officers are: President, Ed Esposito ’69 ’72 MA; Vice-President, Carol Blumenfeld ’03; Treasurer, David Kirpan ’01; Recording Secretary, Donna Madrigal ’88 ’91 MPA; and Corresponding Secretary, Gary Luciano ’72.  The board will recognize outgoing officers Jane Bodzioch ’69 ’83 MA and Frank Budney ’77 for their years of service during the June meeting.  We look forward to their continued involvement as Board Members at Large.  Click here for more information about the Alumni Board.

Janice Marsili

Michael Saulnier ’15 MA was chosen as the Christa McAuliffe Teacher of the Year as well as the Jackson School District Teacher of the Year. He will become the new vice principal of Christa McAuliffe Middle School this June.

Political Webinar

Cougars That Care Day of Service 
Saturday, April 30, 2016
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Miron Student Center

Join other members of the Kean Community in a day of Community Service. Work alongside Kean students and other alumni while giving back. On April 30th, 2016 volunteers will be participating in various service projects in the surrounding communities which will include, but are not limited to, the Hillside Community Food Bank, Adopt-A-Park, Habitat for Humanity, and Atria Senior Living trips.

African Heritage Graduation Ceremony

The 2016 African Heritage Graduation Ceremony includes undergraduates, graduates, and doctorates from January as well as candidates who have filed for graduation in May and August. This ceremony is a cultural celebration which family, friends, and the Kean community come together to honor students’ personal success and academic achievements in the spirit and traditions of African culture.

The excitement is rising for the 19th annual Kean University Gala – the most eagerly anticipated event of the year for the extended Kean community. This year our Kean Gala, celebrating "A Picture of Health", will be held on June 9th, 2016 in the brand new state-of-the-art North Avenue Academic Building, the future home to the University’s health and computer science programs.

For All the World to See: Visual Culture and the Struggle for Civil Rights
April 6 - May 25, 2016

Through a host of media—including photographs, television and film, magazines, newspapers, posters, books, and pamphlets—the project explores the historic role of visual culture in shaping, influencing, and transforming the fight for racial equality and justice in the United States from the late-1940s to the mid-1970s. For All the World to See includes a traveling exhibition, website, online film festival, and a richly illustrated companion book.  This exhibition has been made possible through NEH On the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
