On December 2, the media relations specialist in the Office of University Relations was at the United Nations, performing with the integrated dance troupe Heidi Latsky Dance in recognition of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, celebrated worldwide the following day. Performing ON DISPLAY at the U.N. was the latest “surreal” turn of events for Gonzalez. Kean Foundation

The Kean University Alumni Association and the Alumni Leadership Initiative committee debuted a pilot Alumni-Student Mentoring program last spring. Twenty-one pairs of senior class students were matched with alumni mentors to work on career readiness from January through May. Nearly all indicated they wished to continue their mentoring relationship beyond our formal program. Students responded through pre- and post- surveys that the program was effective in helping them feel more confident about gaining employment or taking their next steps after graduation from Kean.

Now in its beta phase, the Kean Alumni-Student Mentoring program is doubling its reach and engaging both seniors and recent graduates in mentor pairings with alumni professionals. Over 600 Kean students expressed interest in having alumni mentors. Over 40 pairs have just met at the beginning of October and are starting their journey together.

As we launch our second round of mentoring, we need your help in raising $2,500 to fund this important endeavor. Your gift will help to cover the costs of recruiting and training mentors and mentees, creating the best matches for the program, encouraging them to stay on track and meet their target goals, and providing educational training and resources to help them work together on career readiness.

Whether you are a current or former mentee, a parent of a mentee, or a mentor, please consider making a gift of any size today to ensure this program can continue.
